CONNECTmeMe#3

Connecting students to the world beyond the classroom is an important element in providing them with the 21st century skills to become part of the knowledge economy. In Australia, more than 4000 schools have video conferencing equipment with which to connect to an extraordinary range of activities, events and people beyond the classroom walls.

This term teachers can take advantage of events being run by some of Australia’s most prestigious cultural organisations. The Sydney Opera House will take students on a tour of the house or help them to understand the significance of our indigenous heritage at Bennelong Point.

National Rugby League through its outreach program One Community, will lead students in an understanding of the history of the game and why it was so important during  World War 1 and the Great Depression.

The Royal Botanic Gardens will assist students to understand the life cycle of plants and our  Primary Producers will help students understand the process of food production from paddock to plate.

In support of Plastic Free July the Manly Council’s Environmental Centre will run a significant environmental project with schools. A new content provider this is an opportunity for many schools to benefit from their expertise. The ever popular Fizzics education will also provide a range of STEM activities via VC.

The ELECTROBOARD Education calendar is not the only source of amazing video conferencing events for students in Australia.
